Gayla was born in Prescott, Arizona and grew up fishing and hunting with her dad. Little did she know that her outdoor experiences with her dad would become so valuable in her insurance career in the years to follow. Gayla obtained her insurance license and came into insurance in 1982. She started with Sawyer Cook in 1992. With Sawyer Cook's growing interest in the marine business, Gayla's background for fishing, boating, and the outdoors became a "natural fit". Gayla began to handle bass boats, sport fishers, family boats and all other types of watercraft. Her awareness of fishing and boating eases clients and serves them efficiently. With the agency's huge book of watercraft, Gayla services hundreds of various types of watercraft needs. But bass boats are her specialty. She is now the manager of the marine department, and supervises it's personnel.

Gayla also supervises the Sawyer Cook Insurance Prostaff of Professional Anglers. She handles the insurance needs of noted anglers like Gary Dobyns, Dee Thomas, Don Iovino, Gene Bucholz, Ronnie Kovach, Lee Hines, Paul Cormany and Tanya Kruezer. Other notables like Ish Monroe and Dean Rojas, talk with her and trust her for what tournament insurance needs they may have. Her department's service is next to none.

Gayla has been a recent competitor in a number of bass fishing events in California. She has participated in Future Pro Tours Clear Lake Event and in the Champion Boat Company's Champion Boat Owners Tournament.

Gayla also fishes saltwater during the summer and heads up as "team leader" for the Sawyer Cook Insurance Lady Anglers Squad. This is a group of ladies who are learning to become "better anglers" in a "male dominated sport".

Gayla owns her own boat and fishes the Colorado River, especially Havasu, with her family during summer months.

Gayla has two grown children and two grandchildren.
